Reunion 2011 Fundraising Gains Momentum

Reunion-year alumni are joining the Reunion 2011 planning efforts and making gifts to the School in honor of the event at record rates. Learn more about the April 15–17 landmark weekend.

In a unique fundraising initiative this fall, 17 reunion alumni (see below) generously agreed to make pledges of at least $10,000 in honor of Reunion 2011 by October 10, 2010 — “10/10/10.” These 17 alumni pledged an aggregate $235,000 to the Columbia Business Fund and the EMBA Fund — the School’s annual funds – representing a remarkable 24 percent of the $1 million Reunion 2011 fundraising goal.

Excitement is building around the April 15–17 event, when the School will celebrate the milestone anniversaries of the classes of 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, and 2010. (Alumni who have previously celebrated their 50th reunion are also invited to attend as members of the School’s Platinum Classes.) The weekend will feature executive education courses, career workshops, a State of the School address by Dean Glenn Hubbard, class dinners, receptions, and a family brunch. Last year, nearly 2,000 alumni and guests returned to campus for Reunion Weekend and 20 percent of reunion-year alumni contributed to the fundraising campaign. That both of these figures broke the School’s previous records is a testament to the dedication of alumni to Columbia Business School and to the continued growth of its reunion tradition.

There’s still time to reconnect with your classmates now by serving on the reunion committee — a group of dedicated alumni who help strengthen involvement within the class by volunteering their efforts and leadership to encourage Reunion 2011 attendance and gift participation. To serve as a volunteer, contact Matt Quam, associate director of external relations and development, at 212-854-6048 or mgq2101@columbia.edu.

The occasion of your reunion provides an opportunity to make a contribution to Columbia Business School and help ensure its continued success. As a nonprofit entity, the School relies on the support of its alumni to continue to offer the highest quality business education available. Your help in raising class support during reunion year is invaluable. To make a gift, visit www.gsb.columbia.edu/makeagift.
