At its simplest, an organization is a vehicle designed to take the input of strategy and produce the outcome of performance. Just like the human body, an organization must work well if anything is to be achieved; however, the contributions of organizational design to collective achievement are often slighted. This case outlines a model of effective organizational design through the example of the Love Candy Shop, a Malibu-based chocolate store that has grown into a company with almost $30 million in annual sales.
