Despite public outrage and calls for change, chief executive compensation has continue to rise, with CEOs in recent years earning 350 more than the average worker compared with just 63 more before World War II. As executive compensation has increased, academics have turned their attention to examining the causes of burgeoning CEO pay. In this research brief students examine key academic research which purports to explain this phenomenon.
