In 1973, General Motors' fair-haired executive, John DeLorean, abruptly quit the largest industrial company in the world giving up the opportunity to become its future chief executive. Instead, by 1975 he was ready to launch a company to produce an innovative new sports car. DeLorean Motor Company faced all of the challenges of starting an automotive enterprise, and DeLorean quickly found that one's dreams might become nightmares.
