Dave is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor and host of Venture Studio where he engages with entrepreneurs, investors, founders and other vibrant members of New York's entrepreneurial ecosystem and beyond. As of 2013 he was appointed Director of Entrepreneurship at Columbia University, the mission of which is to harness the entrepreneurial energy and talents of Columbia's students, faculty and alumni across all of Columbia's schools. Prior to this appointment he was the Director of the Venture Lab at Columbia where he spun-out 60+ technology start-ups over a seven year period. His personal blog, www.davelerner.com/blog , explores the worlds of university entrepreneurship, angel/venture investing, and startups and he's a frequent contributor to Entrepreneur.com, AmexOPENForum, Forbes, peHub, Huffington Post and Business Insider, whose SAI group recently named him one of the "top 100 most influential New Yorkers in the digital business community". He serves on the Board of New York Tech Meetup and as a Board Member of both the New York Venture Community and Columbia Venture Community. In 2012 he was named to Business Insider's Angel 100, as one of the top Early-Stage Investors in NYC. One of his latest projects is the Startup Genome, which is mapping the entrepreneurial ecosystems of all the cities in the world.
