Jared is an accomplished executive who has helped lead three of the world's most innovative companies: Spotify, AOL, and Google. He is the current Head of Corporate Development and General Counsel of Spotify, the former Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer of AOL, and a former member of the executive team responsible for Google's multi-billion dollar advertising business in the Americas. Between these companies, he has led a wide range of global functions, including, corporate strategy, corporate development, business development, business affairs, legal, and public policy. He was named by Business Insider twice to the Silicon Alley 100, by Fortune/CNN Money as one of "five of tech's most powerful lawyers," and by TechWeek to its Top 100 List.
Jared is involved actively in the Internet and technology community. He serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia Business School, specializing in corporate strategy applied to the Internet, technology and media sectors; his course, with more than 100 students per term, is rated consistently among the most popular classes in the business school. He is a Co-Founder and Board Member of Shake, a venture-backed start-up that allows users to create, sign and send legally binding agreements in seconds via mobile applications. He is a mentor at Techstars, an angel investor in several promising start-ups, and a strategic advisor to several prominent investors.
Jared spent the early part of his career specializing in technology and corporate transactions at Capgemini North America and at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. He received a MBA from Columbia Business School, a JD, with Honors, from the University of Chicago Law School, and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. He enjoys competing in marathons, Ironman-distance triathlons, and tennis.
