Financial aid for deserving students

As Columbia Business School enters its second century, increasing the amount of financial aid available to deserving students is among the School’s highest priorities. To support this goal, Lord Irvine Laidlaw ’65 has generously established the Laidlaw Centennial Scholarship Challenge in honor of his 50th reunion in 2015 and the School’s Centennial in 2016. This challenge will increase both the number of financial aid packages and the size of awards that the Business School is able to offer, benefiting students who otherwise would not be able to attend Columbia. Through this challenge, up to 10 donors who give at least $100,000 in new current-use scholarship funding will have their contributions matched — dollar for dollar — by the Laidlaw Centennial Scholarship Challenge Fund, effectively doubling the impact of their scholarships.

Ultimately, the scholarship challenge will result in a grand total of at least $2,000,000 in new current-use financial aid to be granted to students during — and in the years immediately following — the School’s milestone anniversary in 2016. Your participation in the Laidlaw Centennial Scholarship Challenge will assist Columbia in moving closer to its goal of providing life-changing financial assistance to all students who qualify for it.
