The course will feature guest speakers from venture capital, Fortune 500 firms, patent attorneys, IP licensing professionals, and private equity firms involved in IP monetization. While some legal principles will be addressed, the primary focus of the class is clearly on creating financial returns from IP. Topics covered will include: Patents 101; Intellectual Property in the Business Context; IP landscaping; Negotiating License Agreements; Using Patents Offensively and Defensively; Patents as an Asset Class; Patent Enforcement and Monetization.
