Melissa Reynolds and Debra Jenkins

Executive Director and Founder / Chairman of the Board at Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center

"We decided to enroll in this program because over the past four years, our organization has had a lot of turnover. Some of that turnover was the result of bad hiring decisions or of our inability to properly coach our team on how to improve their performance. Due to our previous game-changing experiences with Columbia’s executive education programs, we felt this program would offer us the tools we need to help each other improve our job performance while at the same time coaching our team to reach their highest potential.

"We have found ways to implement our learning in this program on a daily basis, both with each other and as we interact with our team. We strongly recommend that colleagues take this course together so that co-workers can hold one another accountable, share information, and understand the strategies of effective coaching. We have found coaching each other to be beneficial to both of us and have “practiced” on each other enough that we are much more comfortable coaching the other members of our team.

"We are transitioning our organization’s leadership away from the founder (Debra Jenkins) and onto the Executive Director (Melissa Reynolds). Both parties in this transition need coaching and mentoring as we gradually assume new roles. Thanks to this course and the other excellent training we have received at Columbia Business School Executive Education, we are now empowered to continue our own personal growth and the growth of our non-profit."
