Breakthrough China Strategy

Breakthrough China Strategy

Overview

Within the next two decades, China will become the largest economy in the world. More than ever, executives in the West need a clear understanding of the country. What are the global implications of China’s rise? What are the myths and realities of "the China model"? How does China’s past inform its present? Where is the country headed? What’s needed to succeed in the China market? How to avoid being blindsided by Chinese companies blazing a trail in cost innovation?

This compact three-day program, conducted jointly with CKGSB, China's leading private business school, aims to bring clarity on China to senior executives who are new to China, as well as those who have been in the Chinese market for many years.

Prior to the program, participants will be encouraged to define a key challenge they face or anticipate facing in doing business with China. These challenges will be discussed in small-group breakout sessions. Executives will leave the program with practical insights, best practices and even key contacts that will help their organizations succeed in China.

All program sessions are conducted in English and participants should be proficient in the language. Simultaneous as well as sequential translation will be provided for the joint session and networking events with Chinese CEOs.

Special Features

Breakthrough China Strategy combines the resources and thought leadership of two top business schools — Columbia Business School from the United States and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) from China — to present a one-of-a-kind program here in the United States on doing business with China. Anchored on solid research and on-the-ground knowledge, the program goes beyond hype and sensational media headlines to explore the realities of China's economic transformation and its implications to Western businesses.

The program features a unique half-day session that brings together the program's participants with more than 50 CEOs from top Chinese companies attending a parallel Columbia Business School program. Through classroom interaction and a networking lunch, participants will have the rare opportunity to engage their Chinese counterparts on an intellectual as well as social level. Participants get the chance to test out their ideas for success in the Chinese market with Chinese CEOs, and to provide advice to these Chinese CEOs about their strategies for success in Western markets.
