Hello from Uris 216!

Our names are Eileen and Natasha and we are the Admissions Officers that greet you in Uris Hall room 216. This puts us at the forefront of many frequently asked questions, especially now that the application process for the class of 2016 has begun! We hope that this post will answer some questions that you have come across.

  1. Recommendation requests:  After entering your recommender’s information into the application, a recommendation request email is automatically generated and sent from Recommenders will be asked to upload their letters to the link provided in the email. Some companies with high security settings and filters may block these messages from being received.  If you discover that your recommender did not receive the request from us, we are happy to send them the link manually from an alternate account. All you need to do is give us a call or send us an email.

  2. GMAT/GRE scores: The application system requires that all boxes be filled in order to move to the next section. When applying, we only require the unofficial GMAT/GRE score report that you receive on the day of the test. We understand that this score may not include the IR or AWA scores, in this situation simply put a zero (0) in the box provided. Keep in mind, applications cannot be reviewed until they are complete. Missing required materials, updated test scores, or additional materials must be received by the Admissions Office within six weeks of your application submission.

  3. GPA reporting:  Applicants should report their GPA as it is listed on their transcript, and should not convert this to a 4.0 scale. If your transcript does not list a GPA, please put a zero (0) in the box provided.

  4. Word Limit:  The character limit to describe your post-MBA goal is 100 characters, so be concise! The essays have word limits of 500 words (Essay 1) and 250 words (Essay 2 and 3). There are no specific limits for the other sections of the application; however the system will not permit you to type beyond the spaces provided.

  5. Official transcripts and official GMAT score reports: These are only required AFTER admission is offered. When applying, you may scan and upload unofficial transcripts and unofficial GMAT score reports.

  6. What is an official transcript? An official transcript must come from the institution that you attended and must list the dates of attendance, degrees earned (if applicable), courses, credits, and grades received.

  7. Optional Essay: If you would like to elaborate on a component of your application, you can always provide a short explanation in the Optional Essay. We do not expect you to write an additional essay, this section is a place where you can highlight information that wasn’t showcased in your application.

Hello , this is Catherine. Do you have a limit on the number of applications you receive? I am planning to submit mine for the Early Decision and am wandering whether this is on a first come first served basis and that there may not be a slot even before 2 October 2014.

Hi Catherine, we do not have a limit on the number of applications we receive. We will consider all applications submitted before our deadlines. We read on a rolling basis which means that we read applications and make decisions in the order applications are received. Please let us know if you have any other questions. - MBA Admissions

I recently took the GMAT and I did not score well. I am worried that this will not be good when applying to the program. Do you have a minimum so that I won't get my hopes up?

Hi Mel, we do not have a minimum for the GMAT. 80% of our class scores between a 680 and a 760. 10% score above this and 10% score below.
