David Beim Named Chazen Senior Scholar

Professor David Beim has been appointed a Chazen Senior Scholar at Columbia Business School’s Jerome A. Chazen Institute of International Business.


Professor David Beim has been appointed a Chazen Senior Scholar at Columbia Business School’s Jerome A. Chazen Institute of International Business.

Beim is a professor of professional practice in the Finance and Economics Division and serves as Bernstein Faculty Leader for the Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Center for Leadership and Ethics. His research focuses on corporate finance, international banking, and emerging financial markets. Before joining the School, Beim spent 25 years in investment banking, including 10 years on Wall Street at First Boston Corporation and executive roles at the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Bankers Trust Company, and Dillon Read & Co.

“David is a prominent scholar in areas that are central to the mission of the institute,” said Shang-Jin Wei, director of the Chazen Institute and N. T. Wang Professor of Chinese Business and Economy. “The Chazen Institute has built a community of experts on the global economy and business, and the scope and impact of his research will help us make Chazen a well-known brand for thought leadership.”

The Chazen Institute supports, sponsors, and promotes frontier research that impacts global policy and business. The institute also cosponsors projects and forums, such as a recent expert panel on the euro crisis, and has launched a doctoral-dissertation summer fellowship in areas aligning with its mission.
