My biggest piece of advice is to get involved; there are so many opportunities, whether it’s through traveling or by joining one of the many student organizations. Knowing that I wanted to enter the nonprofit sector either through my next job or through board service, I became part of the Nonprofit Board Leadership Program within the Social Enterprise Program. It’s very practical in many respects—connecting current students with nonprofit boards and the opportunity to observe what it’s like to serve on a board. Another benefit of the program is having CBS alums serve as mentors.
