Business school CAN be a transformative experience. As you have probably heard a lot by now, what you get out of it depends mostly on what you put into it. In addition to the academic resources of the University and everything that New York has to offer, do not forget that you are there to get plugged into a worldwide network beyond the island of Manhattan. So step out and get to know alumni and students wherever they may be in the world.
I loved my cluster of EMBAG students and count them among my best friends now, but I made many more very good friends in the alumni community and in other cohorts: EMBAs, the full time program, the Haas Berkeley MBAs, and the London Business School MBAs who did exchange programs. It is an incredible global network, but it needs to be mined, so step out of your comfort zone even if you are not a natural networker. Good luck!
