Jonathan Knee is a senior managing director at Evercore Partners. At Columbia, he teaches courses including Media Mergers and Acquisitions, Strategic Management of Media, and, with Professor Tim Wu of the Law School, The Media Industries: Public Policy and Business Strategy.
Before joining Evercore in 2003, Mr. Knee served as a managing director and co-head of Morgan Stanley’s Media Group and was previously publishing sector head in the Communications, Media, and Entertainment Group at Goldman Sachs. Prior to becoming an investment banker, he was director of international affairs at United Airlines and served as an adjunct professor of law at Northwestern University.
Mr. Knee’s writing has appeared in such media outlets as the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. He is the author of The Accidental Investment Banker: Inside the Decade that Transformed Wall Street (Oxford University Press, 2006) and coauthor of The Curse of The Mogul: What’s Wrong With the World’s Leading Media Companies? (Portfolio Trade, 2009). He serves on several boards at such organizations as New Alternatives for Children and the National Women’s Law Center.
