THE RISE OF CONSUMERISM IN ASIA
CEO and Chief Growth Officer, MAS Holdings
Nathan Sivagananathan has played a pivotal role in developing design capability of MAS Holdings in Sri Lanka and overseas while spearheading innovation across the US$1.3 billion apparel organization. With more than 25,000 employees under his leadership, he has helped implement several initiatives, including the “Women Go Beyond” program to ensure the well-being and personal development of all employees.
In supporting reconciliation in post-war Sri Lanka, Mr. Sivagananathan established the Vidiyal manufacturing facility to provide employment in a region that was ravaged by war. He helped to create the first carbon-neutral plant in the apparel sector worldwide and initiated the MAS–Victoria’s Secret Organic Cotton program with Burkina Faso, which re-invested the resulting fair trade premium in community development projects.
Mr. Sivagananathan is a founder and director of the Colours of Courage Trust, which supports the National Cancer Institute. In 2011, he cofounded Trail, a 27-day walk across Sri Lanka which saw more than 250,000 Sri Lankans raise US$2.6 million for the construction of a cancer hospital.
