Paolo Scaroni ’73
CEO, Eni SpA 


Paolo Scaroni ’73 became CEO of Eni, one of the world’s major integrated oil companies, in May 2005. He is also non-executive deputy chairman of the London Stock Exchange Group, non-executive director of Assicurazioni Generali, and non-executive director of Veolia Environnement. He serves on the Columbia Business School Board of Overseers and on the board of the Fondazione Teatro alla Scala.

After business school, Mr. Scaroni worked as an associate at McKinsey and Company. From 1973 until 1985, he was with Saint Gobain, culminating with his appointment as president of the flat glass division. In 1985, he became CEO of Techint and executive vice president of SIV. He joined Pilkington in 1996 and was CEO until May 2002, when he became CEO of Enel, Italy’s leading electricity utility.

In June 2013, Mr. Scaroni was appointed an officer of the French Legion of Honor.
