Yuzaburo Mogi ’61
Honorary CEO and Chairman of the Board, Kikkkoman Corporation


Yuzaburo Mogi ’61 joined Kikkoman Corporation in 1958, became president and CEO in 1995, and was named chairman and CEO in 2004. Kikkoman is the world’s largest producer of soy sauce.

From 2001 to 2007, Mr. Mogi served as vice chairman of the Central Council for Education, and in 2002 he became the Japanese chairman of the Japanese-German Forum. In 2003, he became the Japanese chairman of the Japan-Midwest US Association, and in July of the same year he was named co-chairman of the National Congress for the 21st Century Japan. Mr. Mogi served as vice chairman of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives from 1995 to 2003. From 1994 to 2000, he served as a trustee of Columbia University and in October 2000 was appointed trustee emeritus.

Since 1987, Mr. Mogi has been the honorary ambassador of the State of Wisconsin to Japan in recognition of his role in establishing Kikkoman’s first US plant there. Among his many awards, Mr. Mogi is the recipient of the Blue Ribbon Medal of Honor of Japan and the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2003, the queen of the Netherlands named him an officer in the Order of Orange Nassau. His many books include International Strategy Without Friction (Selnate Publishing, 1988).
