Research in progress

What enables some people to transform cultural differences into assets while others are left struggling to bridge cultural divides? My interest in this question is rooted in my passion for understanding how and when cultural differences breed interpersonal and societal conflicts and which type of individuals and psychological processes can facilitate intercultural exchange. In my main line of research, I examine individual and situational factors that shape managers’ intercultural interactions and relationships with peers and employees. In my secondary line of research, I investigate the relationship between women’s identity structures and their performance in negotiations in order to identify a behavioral strategy that allows women to reap economic gains without incurring unfavorable social outcomes. In both of these lines of research I examine how cultural and gender differences play a role in organizational outcomes and utilize experimental as well as quasi-field approaches to answer my research questions.
