Enhancing Your Career Success in a Multi-Generational Workplace
August 27, 2013
Dear Member of the Class of 2015:
Welcome to Columbia Business School. My name is Donna M. Hitscherich and I am a member of the finance faculty and the Director of the Private Equity Program here at the Business School. As an alumna of the Business School (MBA’90), I can assure you that you are embarking on a fantastic journey and I wish you much success.
Beyond welcoming you to the Business School, I am writing you to ask your help with a unique research project. As you will discover, one of the many great things about the Business School is the opportunity to experience first-hand the intersection of theory and practice. The Private Equity Program in collaboration with Damon J. Phillips, James P. Gorman Professor of Business Strategy, is conducting research to explore the attitudes / preferences among the five generations in today’s workplace on a variety of topics ranging from life in general to career progression and aspirations.
The first phase of the research involves you as we survey entering Columbia Business School MBAs and EMBAs. The second phase of the research will survey senior and hiring managers in a variety of industries on the same topics. The project, when completed with your participation, will help you better navigate the interview process this spring and ultimately manage your career in today’s multi-generational workplace.
So how can you participate? You will receive an email from the Private Equity Program with a link and instructions. The link may also be accessed here: https://columbia.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0IeccHktEVr0uYl
The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Your survey responses are completely anonymous. Your email address is required to insure the integrity of the data collection process such that a survey is taken only once by an individual.
I do hope you will help Professor Phillips and me with this important research. I look forward to meeting each of you during your Business School journey.
