Donna M. Hitscherich '90, Moderator

Senior Lecturer in Discipline Finance and Economics
Professor Donna M. Hitscherich was appointed as director of the Private Equity Program in October 2010. Professor Hitscherich now serves as Senior Lecturer in the Finance and Economics division, a position she has held since 2008 after a nearly twenty year career in investment banking and law. Professor Hitscherich teaches Corporate Finance, Advanced Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Law in the MBA and Executive MBA programs. From 1988 through 1990, Professor Hitscherich was an assistant professor of law at St. John's University School of Law, where she taught Federal Securities Regulation and Legal Ethics.
Prior to her present position at Columbia, Professor Hitscherich had a career in investment banking, during which she held positions at CS First Boston, J. P. Morgan & Co. Incorporated and Banc of America Securities. Prior to her career in investment banking, Professor Hitscherich was a corporate lawyer at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Her research interests include mergers and acquisitions, valuation and fairness opinions. She was a member of the St. John's Law Review, and she is admitted to the Bar in the State of New York.
Tracy L. Bahl `04
Special Advisor, General Atlantic
Tracy L. Bahl focuses on activities in the Healthcare sector. Mr. Bahl brings significant expertise to the GA team, having previously advanced numerous growth initiatives for global leaders in the healthcare industry.
In addition to his role as Special Advisor, Mr. Bahl serves on the boards of MedExpress, a GA portfolio company and the national leader in urgent care delivery, and TeleTech, a public company and leading provider of customer engagement services. Mr. Bahl also recently served as Executive Chairman of Emdeon, a former GA portfolio company and an industry leading healthcare information and transaction services company based in Nashville, Tennessee.
Before joining GA in 2007, Mr. Bahl was Chief Executive Officer for Uniprise, a UnitedHealth Group Company, and previously served in various executive positions at CIGNA HealthCare.
Mr. Bahl earned M.B.A.s from Columbia University and the London Business School, and received undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, Health, and Exercise Science from Gustavus Adolphus College.

David Common `85
Managing Director and Head of North American High Yield Credit Research, JP Morgan
David Common is Managing Director and Head of North American High Yield Credit Research. He also covers high yield healthcare – several dozen companies that include hospitals, alternate site providers, and manufacturers and distributors of pharmaceuticals and other medical products. David earned an MBA from Columbia University and is a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA).
Tim Cook `11
Vice President, General Atlantic
Tim Cook is a Vice President at General Atlantic, a global growth-focused private equity firm, which he joined in 2011. Tim primarily focuses on investments in the Healthcare sector.
Previously, Tim worked for TA Associates, a growth equity firm, as an associate focusing on investments in the Consumer, Business Services, Financial Services and Education sectors. Prior to that, Tim was an investment banking analyst at Wachovia Securities in their Mergers & Acquisitions group based in New York.
Tim earned an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He also earned a B.S. from the University of Richmond in Business Administration, with concentrations in Economics and Finance.
Stacy Evans `11
Senior Director - Business Development at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals
Stacy is currently in the Worldwide Business Development group at Pfizer, with responsibility for leading clinical and marketed stage business development transactions in the Specialty Care & Oncology areas, including deal structuring and negotiations for licensing, M&A, and R&D pipeline partnerships. Prior to his current role, Stacy was the Search & Evaluation lead for the Ophthalmology and Vaccine therapeutic areas. Stacy began his career at Pfizer as the Medical lead for pipeline, strategy, and business development in Ophthalmology. In his various roles at Pfizer, Stacy has led or supported business development transactions at Pfizer for nearly 10 years.
Prior to joining Pfizer, Stacy was a consultant in the biopharmaceutical field with expertise in technology assessments, market research, commercial forecasting, drug development strategy, outcomes research, and medical communications.
Stacy completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Economics at McGill University and then continued at McGill to earn his Medical Doctorate in 1999. In 2011, Stacy also completed the EMBA program at Columbia.
Anand Marathe `07
Vice President in the Barclays Healthcare Group
Anand Marathe is a Vice President in the Barclays Healthcare Group where he focuses on healthcare services and technology companies. Anand has worked on strategic and financing initiatives for a diverse set of companies spanning several subsectors within healthcare including Aetna, Allscripts, Amerigroup, Cardinal Health, Catamaran, CVS, Davita, Emdeon, IMS Health, MedAssets, Multiplan, Omnicare, Tenet and UnitedHealth.
He began his banking career at Bear Stearns in 2007 and joined Barclays in 2008; prior to Bear Stearns he worked at Deloitte Consulting from 2001 to 2005.
Anand holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
Mark F. McElreath
Partner at Alston & Bird LLP
Mark McElreath is co-chair of the firm’s corporate practice area, which includes its corporate, energy, finance, health care, real estate and public policy groups, and a partner in the Financial Services & Products group, which he previously led. His practice focuses on debt and equity securities offerings, both domestic and cross-border, and public and private mergers and acquisitions activities.
Mark has handled a wide variety of securities matters, including basic initial public and follow-on offerings of equity securities, as both issuer and underwriter’s counsel; Rule 144A and registered offerings of debt securities and exchange offers for debt securities; and public and private tender offers of equity and debt securities. In addition, Mark has specific industry experience covering real estate investment trusts (REITs), consumer products and retail sales.
Mark’s mergers and acquisitions expertise includes public and private company transactions in a variety of industries and settings, including cross-border business combinations. He has specific and particular experience in mergers and acquisitions activities in the payment processing, investment management, real estate investment trusts and biopharmaceutical industries.
Mark is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers magazine. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his B.B.A., summa cum laude, in accounting, from Mercer University.
