2015 Annual Real Estate Alumni Reception

The annual gathering of Columbia Business School real estate alumni took place on May 6 at the Columbia Club of New York and honored Distinguished Real Estate Partner, Jon Gray of Blackstone.  This lively reception, which draws alumni from near and far, is presented annually by the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate and Real Estate Circle and sponsored by Goodwin Procter LLP.

WX Scholarships Awarded to Three Columbia MBA Students

REA Tours Rockefeller Center and Rainbow Room

On Friday, April 24th, the Real Estate Association (REA) and members of the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate met with executives and property managers from Tishman Speyer and toured the firm’s Rockefeller Center complex. The tour was led by Chris Roth ’14, a graduate of the Columbia Business School Executive MBA Program, who is responsible for asset management of Rockefeller Center.

Real Estate Association Elects 2015-16 VPs

The officers, all in the class of 2016, were elected by the REA membership. Assistant vice presidents will be elected from the incoming class in the fall.

REA Treks to the U.S. Capital

Just in time for cherry blossoms, the Columbia Business School (CBS) Real Estate Association (REA) traveled to Washington, D.C. on April 10 to learn more about current investments trends and opportunities within this uniquely supply constrained and public sector driven market. They were joined by representatives from the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate and CBS Career Management Center for a day-long trek around D.C.’s central business district, Tysons Corner, and Reston, VA.

Bogotá and Mexico City Study Tour: From Multifamily to Mariachi

During Columbia Business School’s spring break from March 14 through 22, a group of 22 real estate students and faculty members traveled to Bogotá and Mexico City to understand more about these emerging markets, their real estate dynamics, and doing business in these cultures.

On the docket were full days of visits with local real estate players such as Terranum Capital in Bogotá and Thor Urbana Capital in Mexico City, in addition to city tours and visits to historical sites and museums.

Columbia Business School Hosts a Real Estate Technology & Entrepreneurship Panel

On March 3, 2015, the Columbia Business School Real Estate Association (REA) with support from the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate presented its first annual Real Estate Technology and Entrepreneurship event as a part of the Centers’ Career Panel Series, to a room filled with current students and alumni attendees. The event kicked off with a networking reception, where students networked with alumni and alumni reconnected with old friends.

Charles Griffith ’16 Named ICSC Foundation Grossman Graduate Scholar

Charles Griffith ’16 has been named an International Council of Shopping Centers Foundation Charles Grossman Graduate Scholar. The award includes a scholarship as well as a grant for travel expenses to attend ICSC RECon, the global convention for the shopping center industry, which will take place in Las Vegas in May.
