Spring Newsletter - A Big Year for the Social Enterprise Club
“The Social Enterprise Club has been like a family to me. I have been truly inspired by the many students committed to effecting social change through better business.” —Rebecca Thomas ’04
In recent years the Social Enterprise Club has made great strides, a testament to the vision and dedication of our members. Our membership has climbed to a record 245 students, whose professional and personal interests span corporate social responsibility, nonprofit management, social entrepreneurship, and community and international development.
This explosion of interest is more than just a sign of the times. It is also evidence of the club’s success in attracting prominent speakers to panels and conferences, fostering lasting student-alumni relations and highlighting the importance of social enterprise issues in the curriculum.
We are especially pleased that the Social Enterprise Club has been selected to host the national Net Impact Conference in November 2004. This honor builds on the success of last October’s second annual social enterprise conference, which featured 40 guest speakers. In the past year the club has helped raise funds to support 16 student internships in the nonprofit and public sectors and launched career interest groups to provide students with peer and alumni networks. Our spring schedule is packed with guest speakers, career panels, social gatherings and networking events.
In our efforts to better serve our members, influence the broader business community and involve alumni, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.
