Arthur J. Samberg ’67

Manager, Hawkes Financial LLC, New York; Chair Emeritus, Board of Overseers

Art Samberg is the manager of Hawkes Financial LLC and a member of Acadia Woods Partners, LLC, which are family entities involved in the financial industry with an emphasis on technology-based venture capital. Mr. Samberg established and oversaw the Pequot Capital funds from 1986 through 2009. He is a member of the board and executive committee of Tri Alpha Energy, Inc., and chairman of the board of JetSuite, LLC. He is on the board of Confluent Development, ClearMotion, Inc., and OpenMobile.

Mr. Samberg holds an SB from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is a life member of the MIT Corporation and a member of the MIT executive committee. For five years he served as chairman of the MIT Investment Management Company and currently sits on the advisory board of the MIT Energy Initiative. Mr. Samberg earned an MS from Stanford University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Mr. Samberg also serves on the board of trustees and the executive and investment committees of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, is on the board of directors of Jazz at Lincoln Center, and is a general partner of Blue Meridian Partners. He is chairman emeritus of the Jacob Burns Film Center.

His other philanthropic affiliations include serving on the boards of College Summit, the New York Genome Center, the Children’s Hospital of New York, and on the national board of directors of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship. He also served as senior chair of the Wall Street and Financial Services Division of UJA.
