Chairman, Haci Omer Sabancı Holdings AS, Turkey
Güler Sabancı is the chairman of Sabancı Holding, one of the leading and most reputable business groups in Turkey. She started her career at the group’s tire manufacturing company and has held various roles at the group’s other companies. In addition, Ms. Sabancı is the founding president of Sabancı University, chairman of the Sak’p Sabancı Museum, and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sabancı Foundation, the leading private foundation in Turkey.
Ms. Sabancı was the first female member of the Turkish Industry and Business Association, as well as the first and only female member of the European Round Table of Industrialists. She serves on the Executive Committee of International Business Council of WEF, the Siemens AG Supervisory Board, the United Nations Global Compact Board, and on the External Advisory Board of MIT Energy Initiative.
Ms. Sabancı has received numerous awards for her outstanding leadership, including the David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Award, the Clinton Global Citizen Award, the Raymond Georis Innovative Philanthropist Award, and the European School of Management Responsible Leadership Award, which she received for her dedicated work to empower girls and women in Turkey. Fortune Magazine named Ms. Sabancı Turkey’s Most Powerful Businesswoman in 2016.
Ms. Sabancı holds an honorary doctorate from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a global leader in industry-university partnership.
