Mike Fries is the chief executive officer and vice chairman of Liberty Global, the largest international TV and broadband company in the world, currently providing 25 million customers in over 30 countries with a combination of broadband, entertainment, and voice services. With more than 40,000 employees and $18 billion of group revenue, Liberty Global is recognized as a global leader in entertainment, media, and broadband. The company is spearheading gigabit broadband speeds and is actively integrating traditional video and OTT platforms. As a leader in the convergence of fixed and mobile, the company has quad-play services in over 20 countries and over 10 million mobile subscribers. The company also owns 50 percent of VodafoneZiggo, a Dutch joint venture, which has 4 million customers, 10 million fixed line subscribers, and 5 million mobile subscribers.

Mr. Fries was a founding member of the management team that launched the company’s international expansion 27 years ago, and he has since served in various strategic and operating capacities. He was appointed president and chief executive officer of Liberty Global in 2005. He is also a member of its two-person executive committee along with the company’s chairman, Dr. John C. Malone.

Mr. Fries is an engaged industry and community leader. He is a Telecom Governor and Steering Committee member of the World Economic Forum and a member of Young Presidents’ Organization. He serves as a trustee or board member of many organizations, including CableLabs, The Cable Center, Grupo Televisa, Lionsgate, Alliance for Choice in Education, and Teach for America Colorado. He chairs the board for the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Biennial of the Americas. Recognitions for his achievements include the EY Entrepreneur of the Year in Media, Entertainment, and Communications, the Industry Leader of the Year by Digital TV Europe, and inductions into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame and the Cable Hall of Fame.

Mr. Fries holds a BA from Wesleyan University, where he serves as a trustee, and an MBA from Columbia Business School, where he is a member of the School's Board of Overseers.
