Amazon has experienced phenomenal success with its customer-focused strategy. In more recent years, and heighted during the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest and attention on the employee culture at Amazon, which has been described as less-than-ideal. What was the workplace experience for both skilled, highly paid tech and professional workers and warehouse and delivery workers? What path forward does Amazon have to reach Bezos’ goal of making Amazon the best employer on earth? In this case, students examine the various strategies that Amazon can employ to become “the world’s best employer.” Which workers are in scope? Should technology be a part of the strategy? And which executives should be involved and across what Amazon businesses?
