Daredevil Philip Tose and his business partner Francis Leung founded an investment bank, Peregrine Investments Holding Inc., which experienced astonishing growth in its first few years. Tose became the mentor of an equally audacious entrepreneur, Lee, who rose to the top of the organization. In mid-1997, however, Peregrine became a high-profile casualty of the Asian Financial Crisis and underwent an equally swift collapse.

In this case, students consider the events that lead to Peregrine's collapse and consider if another outcome was possible.
