By 2020 music streaming had become a fundamental component of music listeners’ daily lives. As competition for subscribers continued to intensify in the music industry (Pandora, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Tencent, and others all sought to attract and keep subscribers, and many offered nearly identical music catalogs), the questions were how each could differentiate itself and what role quality recommendation models played in building a competitive advantage and maintaining it.
