Namrata Goyal is an Associate Research Scholar at Columbia Business School. Dr. Goyal holds a Ph.D. in Social, Cognitive, and Developmental Psychology. Prior to joining CBS, Dr. Goyal was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The New School for Social Research where she taught courses on quantitative reasoning and conducted research on the influence of culture on social cognition. Specifically, she investigates cultural variation in the expression of reciprocity, the impact of cultural norms on memory and categorization, and cultural influences on the expression of agency in social relationships. In her research, Dr. Goyal uses a variety of techniques that include behavioral lab-based experiments, vignette-based assessment, story completion measures, self-report, memory tasks, priming and text analysis.
