The South Asia Business Association is a student run organization within Columbia Business School aimed at promoting cultural and economic interest in South Asian countries, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. SABA offers career networking, social and mentoring resources for students at Columbia Business School who have an interest in business topics and career opportunities in South-Asia.
SABA hosts annual Diwali Celebrations — a festival that brings together people from all races and cultures and is widely celebrated in New York, and several speaker events throughout the year. Past speakers have included Indian politician Dr. Shashi Tharoor and State Bank of India’s US head Mr. Ashwini Tewari.
India Business Conference
The annual SABA-hosted India Business Conference, is the premier India-focused conference in New York City and is a powerful forum that inspires thought leadership and generates discussions around the business, social, political and creative undercurrents that permeate India life.
Over the last decade, the India Business Conference has enabled discourse around varied topics including driving growth on the foundation of structural reforms, maintaining momentum provided by the sustained success of the Information Technology sector, and having an honest conversation about the challenges inherent in the Indian political and democratic system. The ideas exchanged during past conferences have permeated the academic, political and social circles.
