Introduces students to basic concepts in probability and statistics of relevance to managerial decision making. Topics include basic data analysis, random variables and probability distributions, sampling distributions, interval estimation, hypothesis testing and regression. Numerous examples are chosen from quality-control applications, finance, marketing and management.

Regina Pitaro Associate Professor of Business
Jing Dong is an Assistant Professor in the Decision, Risk, and Operations division at the Graduate School of Business, Columbia University. Her primary research interests are in applied probability and stochastic simulation, with an emphasis on applications in service operations management. Her current research focuses on developing data-driven stochastic modeling to improve patient flow in hospitals.
