Prerequisite(s): B8584: REAP: Reforming Mass Incarceration and the Role of Business
REAP (ReEntry Acceleration Program) Immersion is a 12 week 3 credit course offered in the fall and spring semesters, which gives current and future business leaders the opportunity to teach a business curriculum to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people, as well as students drawn from underserved communities.
MBA/EMBA student instructors will be pre-enrolled to take B8580 in either the fall OR spring semester, based on which teaching team each person has been assigned to.
- Fall teaching teams: financial literacy (Financial Empowerment, and Achieving Success in Personal Finance);
- Spring teaching teams: entrepreneurship (Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship), and managerial negotiations (Getting to Yes).
An invitation to apply for this course is sent out in April by email to MBA and EMBA students. To teach inside prisons, selected students will be required to be approved by the facility and Department of Corrections and attend a mandatory volunteers training provided by the facility. Unfortunately local prisons are unable to host academic programs until further notice. However REAP course teaching will be conducted on the outside.
Please note: B8584 REAP: Reforming Mass Incarceration and the Role of Business is offered in August only this year and is a pre-requisite for B8580.
