Columbia Business Lab is a new initiative that will provide co-working space and various other resources for recent alumni of the Columbia Business School (“CBS”) MBA program that are dedicated to launching successful new ventures. Columbia Business Lab is governed by a leadership board of alumni entrepreneurs with management oversight by the Lang Entrepreneurship Center. The facility is provided by WorkSpace at Edison Properties and is funded by Columbia Business School. The program was borne out of the Dean’s Advisory Committee at Columbia Business School.
Our goal is to provide Columbia Business School’s most promising entrepreneurs with a strong ecosystem in which to successfully grow their businesses upon graduation. As well as co-working space, this will include building a strong entrepreneurial community of students and alumni through monthly networking events, regular information-sharing forums as well as resources and business advisory support from the Lang Center, Columbia faculty and experienced CBS entrepreneurs.
In its pilot year, the office space accommodated 21 ventures that will graduate from the program by Summer 2013. Following successful completion of the pilot program, each year new classes of CBS’ graduating entrepreneurs will be competitively selected to become part of the Columbia Business Lab.
On June 3rd, 22 new ventures were officially welcomed to the space.
