Columbia Design Studio
At the Columbia Entrepreneurship Design Studio, we teach students, alumni and faculty customer-centric methodologies for developing innovative, and practical solutions to ill-defined problems. These methodologies, called “human-centered design,” give entrepreneurs, students, and faculty an agile approach to gaining critical customer insights and integrating them into their products, services, and businesses.
The Design Studio offers:
- Design 'sprints' for early stage entrepreneurs to dive into different parts of the human-centered design process – such as user research, prototyping, or storytelling
- The Design Leaders Program, a six-week experience for entrepreneurs or innovators to go through the full design process in pursuit of an idea or venture
- Design Your Future – a three-session deep dive into creating an ideal career
- Studio Hours for one-on-one and group coaching
We encourage innovators to delve into the needs of market segments, frame customer problems, rapidly generate prototypes, and build viable solutions. Through workshops, sprints, and projects, the Design Studio brings diverse members of Columbia’s community together to build innovative solutions.
The Design Studio opened its doors in September 2016 with a fresh coat of paint, new furniture, and a fully redesigned community space. Add an incredible line up of courses, sprints, and coaching and you have all the ingredients for some unforgettable creative experiences.
The Design Studio is located in Room 430 of the Riverside Church (490 Riverside Dr, New York, NY 10027). If you have any questions about finding the Studio, please contact us at [email protected].
