Future of Learning Forum

Each year, Columbia Business School Executive Education invites select leaders of talent and learning from diverse organizations to engage in a dialogue about the roles they play in their organizations and exchange ideas about the future of learning with thought leaders from both academia and industry.

The Future of Learning Forum is a place to find inspiration and challenging ideas that will shape the learning strategies for millions of people. This event is a “by invitation only” event and space is limited. To be considered for next year’s Forum, please complete the inquiry form, below.

The 2015 Future of Learning Forum

This one-day forum is designed for professionals who are charged with directing the learning and development activities in their respective organizations. Speakers from varied backgrounds will share their discoveries and how these impact business and society. The entire day is planned to be a provocative, interdisciplinary, and interactive discussion, with time for networking, to help us acquire new insights on how to prepare for The Future of Learning.

This year, the theme is "Mind, Meaning and Memory," and professors and researchers from across Columbia University and the business community will discuss relevant insights.

The 2015 Forum Speakers

Professor Miklos Sarvary, Columbia Business School, will present his latest research on Future Worlds, a look at where technology is leading us with implications for learning professionals as they consider a multitude of possibilities. This session will be engaging and hands-on, inviting participants to share their challenges, opportunities, and visions of the future.

Professor Daphna Shohamy, Columbia Mind/Brain Institute, will share her latest research on how the brain functions.

Professor Ellie Drago-Severson, Teachers College, will help us understand the power and particularities of Adult Learning.

Professor Ursula Staudinger, the Aging Center, will update us on what we know about the aging brain and its vast potential for productivity and wisdom.

Professor Kathleen R. McKeown, Data Science Institute, will present her research showing how new technologies are being utilized today and what the future will look like from a Big Data perspective.

A panel of corporate practitioners will wind up the day sharing what is working well in their companies and how we might benefit from their successful ideas.
