Columbia's Advanced Management Program is comprised of two parts — the core and the deep dive.

First Half: Core

You begin your Advanced Management Program journey with the core of the program — two weeks of cutting-edge classroom learning at the state-of-the-art GE Management Development Institute just outside of New York City.

For the second half of the program, choose from one of two learning paths — with scheduling options that meet your needs.

  • Learning Path 1: Two Weeks in NYC
    • Come to the Columbia University campus in NYC to experience two more curated, integrated weeks of learning
    • Take the two weeks immediately following the core of the program (Consecutive) or the following Fall (Modular)
    • Includes experiential sessions at iconic NYC locations

  • Learning Path 2: Customized Learning Path
    • Build a custom path of shorter programs designed to sharpen your expertise in focused areas (Customized)

Paul Ingram, Faculty Director
Kravis Professor of Business, Columbia Business School

Paul Ingram's research examines the intersection between culture and social networks. Recent papers investigate questions such as the role of value similarity to foster business networks, determinants and outcomes of individuals’ fit in organizational cultures, and influences on ethical decision making.

He has held visiting professorships at Tel Aviv University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Toronto and, before coming to Columbia, he was on the faculty of Carnegie Mellon University.

He has consulted on issues of organizational design and strategy to leading companies in the finance, health care, insurance, energy, and consumer products industries.

Bruce Craven is the program director of the Advanced Management Program, partnering with the faculty director and on-site and off-site Columbia teams, visiting faculty, and conference center staff to deliver a transformational educational opportunity for program participants.

He also teaches sessions on leadership, focusing on communication, defining purpose, flexible learning, effective messaging, and the power of writing as a tool to face future challenges. In addition to his teaching and leadership roles, he has responsibility for the pre- and post-program effort of the executive education team, including serving as an executive coach.

Over the years, he has taught and had a leadership role in a number of open-enrollment and custom programs in the Executive Education portfolio. He has also been a visiting professor at the WHU Business School in Germany in 2013-2014 and the faculty director in 2016 of the one-week leadership program of WHU at the Columbia Business School.

1. What is the admission criteria and process?
Each cohort of Columbia’s Advanced Management Program is selected through careful review of each candidate’s background, achievements, and learning goals. We not only aim to accept leaders with a wealth of knowledge and successes but also those who have a curiosity about themselves, are willing to view their strongest convictions with humility, and believe in continuous learning and progress to discover what else they can do for their organization and themselves.
To apply, you will submit an application form and share a bit of information about your background, goals, and business challenges. Then you will be asked to set up a call with a member on the program team.

2. What is the program schedule?
The class schedule is Monday through Friday from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by daily Executive Well-Being classes and several social gatherings in the evening and optional sessions on weekends. Download a sample agenda.

3. What is included in the program fee?
The program fee for all three formats (4-week consecutive, modular, and build your own) includes tuition, program materials, accommodations, executive coaching sessions, and most meals.

4. What support do you provide before the program?
At the Advanced Management Program, your journey of intellectual, personal, and professional growth begins long before you arrive in New York. Before the program begins, you will receive a personal onboarding call from the program director, setting the foundation for your learning and helping you formulate your personal and organizational goals.

5. What support do you provide after the program?
Your Advanced Management Program experience spans well beyond the last day of the program. After the program ends, you will receive:

  1. 3-, 6-, and 12-Month Virtual Coaching Sessions
    Three complimentary one-hour sessions with your Executive Coach support your success after your return to your organization. Learn more about executive coaching at the program in our program information downloads.
  2. Post-Program Check-In
    During this call, we will check on your efforts to put your learnings into action.
  3. Your New Network
    Stay connected with your program cohort, access various virtual learning opportunities, and leverage your new Columbia Business School alumni benefits — including invitations to worldwide alumni events, access to unique career content, an online networking platform, the alumni directory, and more.
