Columbia Business School offers several need-based awards to military veterans, listed below. There isn't a separate application to be considered for these awards, as eligibility is determined through our internal need-based financial aid process.

Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E)

Veteran Readiness and Employment is a US Department of Veterans Affairs program designed to benefit veterans with a service-connected disability. This benefit is available to full- and part-time veterans who have a memorandum rating of at least 20% or a disability rating of at least 10%. Recipients can anticipate coverage of full tuition and fees (medical insurance is the only fee not covered) plus a standard monthly BAH payment and a stipend for books.

New York State Veterans Programs

New York State offers several programs to support the educational pursuits of veterans and their beneficiaries, such as Veterans Tuition Awards. Applicants interested in any New York State programs are encouraged to submit a FAFSA and a TAP application, as both forms are required along with award-specific requirements. Navy Supply Corps’ Civilian Institutions (CIVINS) 810 Program

This program is a fully-funded graduate education program that supports 71 different subspecialties. In addition, 33 other fields of study are possible from over 96 different civilian institutions nationwide. Each year approximately 22% of the graduate assignments for officers are slated to attend civilian institutions (CIVINS). The Civilian Institutions (CIVINS) Office executes the Navy's mission by supporting these selected active-duty Navy at full-time residency graduate degree programs at accredited institutions within the United States. For additional information, please refer to OPNAVINST 1520.23C which provies guidance on the Navy's graduate education programs; for application procedures and selection criteria, contact your Detailer or Community Program Officer for details as the CIVINS Office does NOT process applications nor is involved in the student selection process.

Pat Tillman Foundation Military Scholars Program

Columbia University is honored to be selected by the Pat Tillman Foundation as a Tillman Military Scholar University Partner. This prestigious and selective partnership will provide an opportunity for Columbia student veterans or their spouses to apply for the scholarship.

The Pat Tillman Foundation seeks to create a community of scholars dedicated to improving their own lives, the lives of their families and their country by creating a spirit of service. The Tillman Military Scholars program supports this population by removing financial barriers to completing a degree program of choice.  After selection, the program provides a forum supported by community and resources, where leadership, service and advocacy have an opportunity to flourish and in doing so creates an environment where the next generation of America’s leaders can hone their focus and skills through education while also developing a deep and real engagement within our communities.

Advanced Civil Schooling Scholarship Fund

The Advanced Civil Schooling Scholarship Fund provides support to participants in the Army’s Advanced Civil Schooling Program. Amounts vary depending on the amount of sponsorship by the Army. If selected, Columbia can assist by covering the gap between the cost of tuition and the sponsorship at the high tuition level.  Applicants are notified of eligibility after admission.

LunaCap Foundation

The LunaCap Foundation assists Mexicans (born anywhere in the world) or current active military or U.S. Armed Forces veterans with the cost of an MBA education.

ProNet International Scholarships Gifts and Scholarships, Inc.

ProNet International's primary purpose is to provide veterans and/or their families financial aid to assist them in obtaining professional and/or academic degrees or other educational scholarships. Scholarships are funded through a number of memorial funds. Applicants must be US Citizens. Preference will be given to those who wish to pursue a career in the insurance industry and/or the study of ethics and are veterans of a foreign war (or the children of any veteran of a foreign war).

Richard J. Meadows Memorial Scholarship Program

This program is designed to provide one-time scholarship grants annually for tuition and books for the pursuit of academic advancement or vocational enhancement. A Chapter LX, SFA member in good standing, family or dependent of a member, or member of the immediate family of a deceased member who was in good standing at the time of death, or an individual currently assigned to HQ, USSOCOM, HQ, SOCCENT, or HQ, CENTCOM who is otherwise eligible for general membership* in the SFA, or a family member or dependent of such an individual, and have been accepted by, or already attending, an accredited college, university, or vocational institute, to include post-graduate students.  Exceptions may be made for grandchildren of a member in good standing. Personnel applying on the basis of membership in Chapter LX must have been a member for a period of at least 13 months to be eligible.

All application materials must be submitted by July 1 each year.

Veterans United Foundation Scholarship

Veterans United Foundation strives to enhance lives by recognizing the selfless contributions of service members and their families through support of such individuals in need. The program's primary goal is to assist military service members and their families by awarding twenty bi-annual $2,000 scholarships to help pay for tuition and books. To be considered, the scholarship applicant must currently be pursuing a post-secondary degree (associates, bachelors, masters or doctorate) at an accredited college or university, display financial need and maintain a cumulative 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and fall into at least one of the following categories:

Applications are due by October 31.

• • A current active-duty service member
  • Veteran of the United States Armed Forces
  • Spouse of a service member or veteran
  • Surviving spouse or child of a fallen service member
  • Child of a service member or veteran.

AMVETS Scholarship

AMVETS, also known as American Veterans, is the largest and oldest veterans service organization that is open to and fights for all veterans and their families. All scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic promise, and merit. The scholarships are intended to provide financial assistance for veterans, service members, and families that have exhausted government aid, or who might not otherwise have the financial means to further their education. Army Women's Foundation Graduate Program 

The Army Women’s Foundation recognizes the importance of education and the role it plays in personal, professional, and economic fulfillment. The Army Women’s Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program provides grants to women soldiers, past and present, and their lineal descendants to help them attain their educational goals.
