COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS UPDATE

AS OF 9/9/20:

  • ALL OFFICIAL COLUMBIA DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL (INCLUDING STUDENT GROUPS) ARE RESTRICTED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
  • LOCAL/TRI-STATE (NY, NJ, CT) TRAVEL IS PERMITTED FOR DAILY TRIPS ONLY. NO OVER NIGHT TRIPS ALLOWED. 
  • HOTELS AND AIR B&BS WILL ARE NOT ALLOWABLE EXPENSES AT THIS TIME.

  • AS PER CMC, ALL RECRUITEMENT ACTIVITIES ARE VIRTUAL THROUGH FEBRUARY 2020. 
  • IN- PERSON TREKS ARE NOT SUPPORTED AT THIS TIME. 
  • REACH OUT TO YOUR CMC ADVISOR FOR VIRTUAL TREK SUPPORT.

What is a trek?

A trek is defined as  any firm visits that require more than 2-hours of travel time. 

OSA/CMC Guidelines:

  • All treks must be approved by OSA & CMC
  • Treks cannot happen during class time, blackout dates and/or on-campus recruiting
  • Do NOT use your own funds- communicate early with FPO
  • OSA & CMC strongly suggest using hotels for lodging and not AirBNB (for student comfort, stremalining logistics and liability reasons)
  • Students cannot sign any contract on behalf of Columbia Business School
  • Review the for full policies and procedures surrounding using club funds

  • CMC support with company relationship experts
  • CMC advisor participation
  • Ability to promote via official club communication channels such as listservs, Org Sync, etc. 

Trek Approval Process

  1. Submit the Club Trek Proposal Form
  2. Upon approval by OSA & CMC, submit the Club Trek Submission Form
