Thomas A. Russo
Thomas A. Russo joined Gardner Russo & Gardner LLC as a partner in 1989. Since 2014, he has served as managing member of Gardner Russo & Gardner LLC and general partner to Semper Vic partners, a global value, long-only, equity investment partnership. Mr. Russo manages over $12 billion through Semper Vic partnerships and separate accounts.
Mr. Russo favors globally based consumer products companies possessing the capacity to reinvest into developing and emerging markets. He frequently invests in family-controlled companies whose managements have the capacity to suffer Wall Street censure when projects designed to enhance long-term intrinsic value per share burden and disrupt current reported profits. Reduced agency costs and alignment of shareholder interest support his goal of long-term, tax-deferred performance.
Mr. Russo received his BA from Dartmouth College in 1977 and an MBA/JD from Stanford Business and Law Schools in 1984. He is a charter member of the advisory board for the Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing at Columbia Business School. He was awarded the Columbia University and Gabelli Funds Graham & Dodd, Murray, Greenwald Prize for Value Investing in May 2017.
