Les Pavillons de Bercy

Located in an old wine storage facility in the Bercy Quarter, in the eastern district of Paris, the Pavillons de Bercy is home to the Musée des Arts Forains, or the Museum of Fairground Arts. After the French Revolution, the number of wine cellars in the area increased significantly as the gated district technically lay outside of Paris, and thus was exempt from the heavy alcohol taxes levied in the city. In 1878 they became known as the Entrepôts (warehouses) de Bercy. Each of the Pavillons de Bercy’s four reception areas is designed according to a particular festive theme: the Fairground, Carnival, Cabinet of Curiosities, the roaring 20s and extraordinary gardens.
