Donna M. Hitscherich '90

Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Finance and Economics
Professor Donna M. Hitscherich was appointed as director of the Private Equity Program in October 2010. Professor Hitscherich now serves as Senior Lecturer in the Finance and Economics division, a position she has held since 2008 after a nearly twenty year career in investment banking and law. Professor Hitscherich teaches Corporate Finance, Advanced Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Law in the MBA and Executive MBA programs. From 1988 through 1990, Professor Hitscherich was an assistant professor of law at St. John's University School of Law, where she taught Federal Securities Regulation and Legal Ethics.
Prior to her present position at Columbia, Professor Hitscherich had a career in investment banking, during which she held positions at CS First Boston, J. P. Morgan & Co. Incorporated and Banc of America Securities. Prior to her career in investment banking, Professor Hitscherich was a corporate lawyer at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Her research interests include mergers and acquisitions, valuation and fairness opinions. She was a member of the St. John's Law Review, and she is admitted to the Bar in the State of New York.
Christian is a Principal on Hamilton Lane’s Fund Investment Team, where he is responsible for due diligence of primary fund opportunities.
Prior to joining Hamilton Lane in 2010, Christian was an Associate Director with the Private Funds Group at UBS Investment Bank, where he was responsible for due diligence and project management of private equity fundraisings. Previously, he was with CMP Capital Management-Partners GmbH, a private equity firm specializing in turnaround investments in German-speaking Europe. Christian received an M.B.A from Columbia Business School and a diploma in Economics from the University of Bonn.
Dan performs buyouts and principal investments at The Carlyle Group in New York. Since joining Carlyle in 2011, Dan has been involved in the execution of investments in NGP Energy Capital, Cogentrix, Diversified Global Asset Management and Metropolitan Real Estate. Prior to Carlyle, Dan worked on private equity and M&A mandates at BCG, Lazard, and Schroder Salomon Smith Barney in London, and served in the German military (paratroopers).
Dan was a PhD scholar at Columbia Business School, earned a PhD magna cum laude on private equity at Technical University of Berlin and a Diploma in Business (MBA equivalent) at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, and studied abroad at ESCP Europe in Paris and in the MBA program at Kelley School of Business (DAAD scholarship).
Dan serves on the board of United Generations, a 501c3 focused on impact investments (primarily healthcare and education in the US).

Jeff Rojek is a 20+ year partner at KPMG and is the Global Lead Partner on a number of the Firm’s most significant Private Equity client relationships. Jeff’s experience at KPMG includes Lead Partner roles on the Firm’s Global Banking clients, four years living Asia leading our large financial services relationships, and two years in KPMG’s National Office. In 2008 Jeff joined GLG Partners Inc., a NYSE listed alternative asset manager with $26B of AUM, as their Chief Financial officer. After successfully selling GLG to the Man Group in 2011, Jeff rejoined KPMG in 2013. He has an MBA from Columbia ’96 and a BS from Fordham University ’91.
James Sullivan focuses his practice on advising institutional investors and private investment fund sponsors representing a wide variety of fund structures and asset classes. Mr. Sullivan has significant experience in representing buyout funds, venture capital funds, hybrid funds and real estate funds in their investment and acquisition activity, including investments in and acquisitions of portfolio companies, debt and equity capital raising initiatives, recapitalizations and sponsor exit transactions. He also counsels public and private companies (including companies controlled by private investment funds) in a variety of corporate transactions, including strategic acquisitions and divestures, equity and debt financings and other complex business transactions.
Jaime Villa is a Principal and a member of the Global Macro and Asset Allocation Team. Prior to joining KKR in 2014, Mr. Villa was a vice president in PIMCO’s portfolio management group. During his tenure at PIMCO, Mr. Villa rotated through various portfolio management desks gaining extensive experience performing macroeconomic analysis and investing across global interest rate, currency, and credit markets. He was also responsible for supporting PIMCO's official institutions group, which serviced the firm's central bank and sovereign wealth fund clients. Mr. Villa earned a B.A. in Business Administration from Babson College and holds a M.B.A from Columbia Business School.
