Tomnod: Mapping Urbanization
Last week, an exciting research project by Professor Amit Khandelwal launched. It's called Tomnod, and it uses satellite imagery to identify evidence of urbanization across the globe.
To get in on the fun, go to the Tomnod site and create an account.
Then, click through the images and indicate whether the image is more than 50% built up (containing roads, buildings, or other human-made surfaces) or less than 50%.
That's it! Click through as many or as few images as you like. Warning: you'll be hooked!
