Voices of Rwandan Female Entrepreneurs: Starting a Funeral Business

How does one begin a business with no capital or prior experience in a completely new industry? Languida shares how she built the first funeral home in Rwanda after the genocide.

In April 2001, female entrepreneurs from war-torn Rwanda gathered in New York for a panel discussion hosted by the Jerome A. Chazen Institute at the Columbia Business School. The event, titled "Doing Business Our Way: Voices of Rwandan Entrepreneurs," featured owners of a landscape firm, a funeral parlor, and a hotel. This clip contains responses in the language of Rwanda (Kinyarwanda) with English translations. Last names of panelists are omitted for privacy.
